Several Premier League teams have loaded up during the summer transfer window in preparation for the 2026-27 campaign, and some have done better than others.
Tottenham are among the productive teams this offseason, especially after finishing 17th in the English top-flight standings last season (and were almost relegated). The Spurs are hell-bent on avoiding finishing there for the third year in a row.
Defending champions Arsenal didn’t do much, but they pulled off one of the biggest coups in the market. By doing so, the Premier League 2026 odds have high expectations for Mikel Arteta’s men ahead of their title defence. On the other hand, the same can be said for Manchester United, whose front office continues to back head coach Michael Carrick.
We’re only a few days away from the summer transfer window officially closing. In the meantime, SBOTOP lists some of the biggest winners of this period thus far.
Arsenal
Despite their recent struggles in club friendlies, Arsenal remain one of the deepest teams in the world. They almost achieved a double last term – breaking their Premier League drought and finishing as runners-up in the Champions League.
This summer, they’ve parted ways with Karl Hein, Jakub Kiwior, Leandro Trossard, and Christian Norgaard, recouping around €46.2 million. In return, they made Piero Hincapie’s deal permanent and brought in Christos Tzolis, Illan Meslier, and Bruno Guimaraes, spending around €167.5 million.
Tzolis essentially replaces Trossard for their wing depth, while Meslier is another backup goalkeeper alongside Kepa Arrizabalaga. Guimaraes is a massive upgrade for Norgaard, and the Brazilian will join an already stacked midfield rotation of Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, Eberechi Eze, and skipper Martin Odegaard.
Guimaraes was previously linked to Manchester United, but a deal never materialised, so Arsenal came in to pry him away from Newcastle United, who also lost Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this offseason.
Myles Lewis-Skelly has been linked to Manchester United lately. If Arsenal lose him, their backline remains in good shape since they still have Riccardo Calafiori, Piero Hincapie, Ben White, and Jurrien Timber as their full-backs.
During a recent interview, head coach Mikel Arteta said he wants the Gunners to become a dynasty, and it seems they’re on their way.
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham promised to back head coach Roberto De Zerbi after he saved them from relegation last term, and they’re doing just that this summer. They’ve let go of their deadwood while upgrading their roster, hoping for more positive Premier League 2026 results this time.
Some of their notable departures include Yves Bissouma, Radu Dragusin (on loan to Fiorentina), Luka Vuskovic, Will Lankshear, and Manor Solomon. In return, they’ve added Andy Robertson, Martin Dubravka, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Mateus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali, spending a total of €267 million.
On top of their shiny new toys, the Spurs also still have Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Kevin Danso, Djed Spence, Destiny Udogie, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Dominic Solanke, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel, and Mohammed Kudus, and Xavi Simons (knee) remains their long-term absentee.
The new additions are adapting well to De Zerbi’s tactics this preseason, and barring any injuries, Tottenham should finish at least within the Top 10 next season – with the Top 5 being their best-case scenario. And having no European football can be a blessing in disguise for the Spurs, as this means they’ll have more practice and recovery days.
Manchester United
Many thought that Manchester United were falling behind their peers early on in the summer window. But as it turns out, the Reds bided their time and refused to give in to outside noise when it comes to their transfer business (unlike in the years past).
This offseason, they released Jadon Sancho, Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, Rasmus Hojlund, Radek Vitek, Tyler Fredricson, and loaned Altay Bayindir to Celta Vigo. In return, they signed Andrey Santos, Karl Darlow, and Youri Tielemans, and are reportedly looking for a backup striker and another left-back.
Several pundits thought that Andrey Santos was an overpay, but the young Brazilian has adapted well this preseason. Tielemans is also a shrewd addition, as head coach Michael Carrick seems to prefer technical midfielders instead of physically dominant ones.
The Red Devils also brought back Marcus Rashford, who is fresh from a successful loan stint at Barcelona. With no buyers for Rashford, the 28-year-old forward will use 2026-27 as a prove-it campaign. Furthermore, Manuel Ugarte (knee), Mason Mount (foot), and Matthijs de Ligt (back) are their notable injured players.
